MELANESIAN MISSION
INTEREST RE-ESTABLISHED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Auckland, December 17.
Mr. H. S. Robinson, secretary of the Melanesian Mission, returned from Sydney by the Niagara to-day. He said that the main object of his visit was to revive the interest in the Melanesian Mission, and make an inquiry regarding the supply of two schooners to replace the Southern Cross. In that connection it was probable that these vessels would be built in New Zealand, particularly as most of the money came from New Zealand. “I can say,” he added, “that we have re-established interest, but do have to own with disappointment that the support is not greater on the other side. It is.a difficult problem which is giving us much concern. It is difficult to make people realise the amount of work entailed in helping the mission.”
