SOUTH AFRICAN WAR VETERANS
ANNUAL MEETING. The Wellington branch of the South African War Veterans’ Association held its annual meeting on Saturday night, Major P. de B. Brandon presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, General Sir Alfred Robin; president, Major P. de B. Brandon; vice-presidents, Sister MacGregor, and Messrs. J. A. Shand, L. de Launey, and A. E. Neilson ; secretary, Mr. J, I. Goldsmith; assistant secretary, Mr. C. J. Wilson; committee, Messrs. J. J. Clark, J. A. Capper, W. Reilly, W. P. C. Wortley, W. Alderson, M. Murdoch, D. M. Wooley, S. Harland, V. Klee, D. Mclntyre, J. R. Taylor, C. W. Palmer. A. W. Best and B. C. Cull: hon. solicitors, Messrs. Perry and Perry; padre, Padre D. C. Bates; hon. auditor, Mr. G. W. Jamieson; quartermaster, Mr. W. P. C. Wortley. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. J. A. Shand for the exhibition of his slides of the South African War for the association. A billiards and snooker tournament with the Returned Soldiers’ Association will be held on a date to be arranged.
