£20,307 11s. 2}d. was the exact amout of one of a number of tenders recived by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board (says the “Star”). The members expressed surprise at- the evidence of financial detail, and one of them said that it was the first time he had heard of farthings in connection with a big tender price.
