RECENT FINANCIAL CRASH
ACTION BY FRENCH CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES URGENT MEASURE PASSED (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Australian Press Association. (Rec. December 16, 5.5. p.m.) Paris, December 15. The Chamber of Deputies has urgently adopted a measure, inspired by the “Gazette de France” case, preventing members from occupying directorships and other salaried posts in financial and industrial concerns or from becoming director or editor of a financial paper without seeking reelection. The Chamber also passed the Budget by 460 votes to 120, thus denoting that it was not considered a party measure. The Deputies, by 262 votes to 254, voted an increase of their own salaries from £360 to £4BO per year, compared with Britain’s £4OO, Germany’s £360, Italy’s £l6O, and Belgium’s £96.
