NORTHERN DEFEAT TERRACE END. Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, December 15. Lawn tennis activities to-day were confined to Terrace End and Northern when a team from the latter club visited the Terrace End courts, defeating the home team by 14 games to 10 and 175 sets to 153. The results are as follow, Terrace End mentioned first in each instance: — Men’s Singles.—Cope lost to M. Williamson, 4—9; Eising lost to Harris, 11 —12; Walker lost to Goode. 7—-9; Head lost to Saywell, 4 —9; Sorensen beat Bardsley, 9—5; Spellman beat B. Williamson, 9—G. Men’s Doubles. —Cope and Eising lost to Williamson and Harris, o—9:0 —9: Walker and Read beat Goode and Saywell, 9—5; Sorenson and Spellman beat Bardsley and B. Williamson, 9—B.

Ladies’ Singles.—Miss Pitt lost to Miss A. Heard, 5 —7; Miss Matheson beat Miss R. Kirk, 7—l; Miss Gibbs beat Mrs. D. 11. Cook, 7—5; Miss Green beat Miss V. Isaacs, 7—5; Miss Moffatt lost to Miss D. Heard, 5—7; Miss Norman lost to Miss 11. Paterson, 6—7.

Ladies’ Doubles. —Misses Pitt and Matheson lost to Misses A. Heard and R. Kirk, 5—9; Misses Gibbs and Green beat Mrs. D. H. Cook and Miss V. Isaacs, 9—7: Misses Moffatt and Norman beat Misses D. Heard and 11. Paterson, 9—2. Combined Doubles. —Cope and Miss Pitt lost to M. Williamson and Miss A. Heard, 6—9; Eising and Miss Matheson lost to Harris and Miss E. R. Kirk, 5—9; Walker and Miss Gibbs beat Goode and Mrs. D. 11. Cook. 9—5; Reade and Miss Green lost to Saywell and Miss V. Isaacs. 5—9; Sorenson and Miss Moffatt lost to Bardsley and Miss D.
