When a recommendation was made by the Works Committee to tlie City Council on Thursday to take over a private way at Rangiora Avenue, the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup) objected on principle to private ways being taken over, as the council would be responsible for their maintenance. Councillor H. D. Bennett said this was practically a public way, access being afforded at botli ends.
