BROADCAST ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sir, —In reply to “Accuracy’s” letter regarding the broadcasting of news items from 2YA, I would like to say a few words in defence of the announcer. Considering that your correspondent has gone back over a period of nearly six months for his complaints, and has found only five, I think he should pride himself in having an excellent service, especially when one considers the number of hours 2YA is on the-air. I am sure listeners-in are thankful that “Accuracy” is not the announcer, when they notice that he made one mistake in his short letter —he accuses the announcer of reversing the result of a Test football match in South Africa, whereas the mistake was made in the first Transvaal match, when a win for New Zealand 9—45 was announced, instead of a win for their opponents by 6 —o.—I am, etc., REASONABLE. Wellington. November 22.
