Exception has been taken by motorists and members of local bodies to the road signs that are necessary to comply with the motor regulations (says an exchange). They have been likened to hieroglyphics, symbols of eel clubs, and snakes, but Councillor Tosland. speaking at the Egmont County Council, considered they were not so bad as that. It might be like learning a new alphabet, he said, but once learned, he thought they would prove very valuable adjuncts to the safety of the road. He considered the automobile associations were endeavouring to rule the highways, and the county council* in particular.
