The Premier, Mr. Mackenzie King, speaking at the Board of Trade, declared that his administration had.entered the diplomatic field, not only to assume responsibility for Canada's external affairs, but also because he believed that consultation and co-opera-tion with British Ambassadors abroad would serve to broaden the base and secure more firmly the foundation upon which the British Empire Government rested, and. make for British unity and its permanency, as well, as world peace. .
