WELLINGTON METHODIST SYNOD
Dominion Special Service. Levin, November 22. The .annual Methodist Synod of the Wellington district, opened yesterday, at the Century Hall, Levin. The proceedings are under the direction of Rev. E. D. Patchett, while Rev. C. H. Olds is secretary, with the Rev. J. Dennis as assistant. ' During the morning session,- Mr. W. Greenslade, of Upper Hutt, was unanipiou'sly recommended to be received by the coming conference,, at Auckland, for theological training. At the afternoon session, three probationers! for the ministry were examined, and the Revs. B. ; .R. Hames, 8.A., C. O. Hailwood, and IL Dudley, provided that their written examinations proved satisfactory, each pass in his year. Mr. D. Alley, a candidate on the president's list of reserve, was then dealt with, and he was recommended for theological training. In th? evening, the hall was well filled for the civic welcome, and the local church’s reception. The Mayor, and Mr. F. IL Hudson, made very appropriate speeches,, to which Revs. E. S. Harkness and E. O. Blaruircs replied. Solos were given by Miss. Chalk, Mrs. Devine, Mr. Mottershem, and the Rev. C. 11. Olds. Mr'. G. S'orenson was at the organ, and piano, while Mr. Keys conducted the choir, which sang some selections irom “The Messiah,” and farewell anthems.
