NEW ZEALAND MAN VICTIMISED Sydney, November 22. John Sutherland, 49, of Whangarei, New Zealand, a recent arrival in Sydney, formed an acquaintance with Dennis Finn in the city and listened attentively to a tall story.about a cane farm in Queensland, which Finn was supposed to own. Finn induced Sutherland to advance money for implements on the promise that Sutherland would be employed there at a guinea a day. Sutherland went to Brisbane, where he discovered he had been duped. He was compelled to walk nearly the whole w r ay back to Sydney owing to being “broke.” He told the story in the City Police Court, and Finn, who was described by the Magistrate as a heartless fellow,, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
