AOTEAROA DIOCESE

CONSECRATION OF MAORI BISHOP

The consecration of the Bishop-elect of Aotearoa (Rev. F. A. Bennett) is to take place at Napier Cathedral on Sunday, December 2. The whole of the Anglican Bishops of New Zealand will be present, including the Primate (Archbishop Averill), who will consecrate the new Bishop. The event is being regarded with a very great deal of interest, both with the Natives and Europeans, and a great assemblage of the clergy is expected to gather for the event. The Natives, who will be present from all over New Zealand, will be accommodated at Pakipaki, near Hastings. The Napier Cathedral has seating accommodation for about 1200 persons, and special arrangements are being made for the occasion.
