NAPIER WOOL SALE
RISE ON WELLINGTON ( PRICES By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Napier, November 20. The opening wool sale of the season in Napier was held this afternoon, when under 12,000 bales were catalogued, ns against 16,000 last November. The interruption of shearing by wet weather was responsible for the smallness of the offering. The condition of the wool was exceptionally good, being equal to the 192425 clip—Hawke’s Bay’s best season — and this contributed in some measure to the satisfactory prices obtained. Generally, prices were an improvement on the opening sale last season, ami showed an all-round advance on the Wellington sale, last week, the average improvement being at least a penny. Pieces and necks were 3d. better than Wellington, hoggets quite a penny, and fleece wool generally. Id. to !(d. Super-crossbred, suitable for America, also pieces and necks, were keenly sought after. Right through the sale, competition was exceptionally spirited, and well distributed among a full bench of buyers, representing all sections of the trade. The smallness of the catalogues for the opening sales in the various centres are considered to be responsible for the keenness of the demand, and men in the trade express the opinion that prices will fall as the season progresses. Top price for hoggets was 22d., while a line of halfbred brought 22Ad._ The official range of prices was not available to-night. EXCITED MARKET AT SYDNEY By Telegraph.— p ress Association. (Rec.
