0 MIXED FOURSOME COMPETITION Palmerston North, November 19. With sunny weather and the course in perfect order the mixed foursomes played at the Hokowhitu links on Saturday proved a complete success, 56 couples competing. Some very good cards were returned, and the issue was in doubt for a long time. The first couple to return what seemed the winning card were J. L. Stanford and Mrs. Stanford, of Marton, with 73 net, and this held pride of place until it was equalled by 11. Essex and Mrs. Bullard. K. Guy nud Miss M. Guy upset matters with a 72 net, and a little later O. 11. Druce and Mrs. Druce put in a 71. This latter score reigned supreme until the last couple to finish, Mr. and Mrs. E. Fair (Feilding) returned a card of 70, thus winning the competition, while J. Grant and Mrs. Grant succeeded in winning the “eggs” given for the biggest gross score of the clay.
