FALSE PRETENCE CHARGES

LARGE AMOUNT INVOLVED AGENT COMMITTED FOR TRIAL Palmerston North, November 19. Charges of obtaining money by false pretences, involvi g a total sum of approximately £2OOO were preferred i.i the Magistrate's Court this morning against Geor Robert Hindi, described as a commercial agent. Accused, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, was represented by Mr. Willis (Wanganui), Senior-Detective Quirke conducting the case for the police. The first charge preferred alleged that accused, by falsely representing that he was in a position to have 300 one-pound shares in the New Zealand Commercial Association transferred to Ronald Hendrick Nitsehke, farmer, of Bonny Glen, Marton, thereby obtained from the l:itt r the sum of £350. Then followed four charges alleging that accused, by falsely representing that the money was 'equired for investment in the New Zealand Commercial Association, obt ined from Ronald Hendrick Nitsehke sums of £250, £3OO, £65, £745 and £‘“>o on various dates between July 25, 1927, ami July 3, 1!)2S. Practically the whole clay was taken up in hearing evidence and the accused was committed for trial in the Supreme Court at "Wanganui. Bail was fixed at £5OO in self and two sureties of £250 each, or one of ■
