BOWLS
NO PENNANT GAMES ON SATURDAY
On account of the very soft state of the greens on Saturday after three days’ almost continuous rain the Bowling Centre decided not to play the first round of the pennant games. This means that the round will be played later in the season on a date yet to be arranged. These matches cannot be played on the succeeding Saturday, as used to be the case, as each club now makes and prints its full programme for the whole of the season, and these have to be adhered to, otherwise there would be a general upset In Inter-club games apart from the pennants. The second round of the Pennants will be played on Saturday week. So far the season—now a month old—has been a .disappointment. There have only been three or four days on which a roll up was possible, with a due respect to comfort, and bowlers are beginning to despair of ever getting any Saturday play this side of December.
