ELECTRICAL STORM IN THE WAIKATO
* MILKERS’ ALARMING EXPERIENCE Dominion Special Service. Auckland, November 2. The-most severe electrieul disturbance experienced In Hamilton for some time hud serious effects in the borough yesterday. The storm, Which set in at--3.45 p.m., blew out the electric apparatus nt the pumping station, and the pumps were couscqiieiitly put out of .action for over six hours. Over 150 yards of an embankment was torn down, while fully 40 feet of drain piping burst during Ihe storm In Te Arolia Street, Uluudeliiiids.
A marvellous escape from Injury Wild experienced at Tiihlkarama, where the lightning struck-n large milkingshed, the projierty of Mr. C. 11. Ellery. Four milkers were engaged In the shed at the time, mid 150 cows were being milked. The roof of the shed was lifted bodily'mid thrown some distance from the building. Electrical apparatus was also ruined by the lightning. Tlie milkers had a remarkable escape, as also did the herd. Tile telephone in the house was struck by lightning, mid wrenched violently froin tiie wall and hurled down the passage, while the entire electric Insinuation jn the house was destroyed.
