BISHOP OF POLYNESIA
SAILING FOR PAPEETE TO-DAY
Dominion Special Service.
Auckland, October 8.
The Rt. Rev. L. S. Kempthorne, Bishop of Polynesia, arrived by the Niagara from Suva to-day en route to Papeete. He will leave to-night by the Main Trunk express to catch the Maunganui, which sails from Wellington to-morrow.
The extent of the Polynesian Diocese is illustrated by the fact that in order to travel from his headquarters in Fiji to his station in Tahiti it is necessary for Bishop Kempthorne to make a long circuit by way of Auckland and Wellington. / Bishop Kempthorne stated that the work of the Polynesian Mission was proceeding very satisfactorily since he had been visiting the islands near the equator, but apart from the steady progress of the work, there was not much to report.
