HOMING PIGEON SOCIETY

On Saturday last the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society commenced its South Island programme with a race from Culverden, 140 miles. Seventeen lofts were represented by 132 birds. Although strong head winds prevailed at the home end, conditions throughout must have been fairly favourable, as good times were recorded, and a good percentage of returns in race-time. Next week-end a flock race will be flown from Lyttelton and also a two-bird teams’ race for yearlings from Frankton Junction. Results of Saturday’s contest were as follow: —Mr. G.
