MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND MAINTENANCE CASES.
Police and maintenance cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday were dealt with bv ISIr. J. H. Salmon, b.M. Richard Cook, aged 40, who was charged with his sixth statutory offence of drunkenness, was fined £3, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment. A plea of not guilty was entered by Roland Joseph • Potts, a clerk, aged 38, who was charged with being found m a house without lawful excuse at 11 p.m. on September 20. After evidence had been taken, the Magistrate remarked that technically there had been an offence, but it was a case for a light penalty. Accused was fined £1 and costs. Charged with being in arrears on an order for the support of his wife, F rederick Biel was sentenced to fourteen days imprisonment in the Auckland gaol. He is to be released on payment of io 10s.
