UNEMPLOYMENT SUBSIDIES
MODIFICATION OF RESTRICTIONS A modification of the restrictions governing the payment of subsidies to local authorities in respect of expenditure upon unemployment relief, is provided in the Finance Bill read a first time in the House of Representatives last night. The Bill makes it clear that where subsidies are paid on approved works they can be applied to the continuance or completion of the undertaking, and that they innv be used to recoup any fund from which an advance has been taken for relief works in anticipation of the subExpenditure of £BO on unemployment relief by the Eltham Borough Cojmfiil is validated,,
