“I was very surprised,” writes C.E.H., “at a statement made by one of the Labour members in Parliament, that there were about twelve people present at a meeting addressed by the Rt. Hon. the Prime Minister, at Wellington East, last Tuesday week, and would like to inform the gentleman concerned that the hall was packed, every seat being taken, and some twenty members of the public standing in the doorway, and, further, that a unanimous vote of confidence in Mr. Coates was passed with acclamation.”
