Meteorological Office, Wellington, Septembci 18, 4 p.m. A deep depression is crossing New Zealand, while a secondary depression is advancing from the lasman Sea. lhe westerly' type is still strongly developed. Strong north-west to westerly winds to gales ovei New Zealand, backing temporarily to south-west in the South Island. Strong westerly winds to gales over the eastern 'lasman Sea, but with a temporary change to south-westerlies advancing from the west later. Seas rather rough to rough generally in New Zealand waters.
Weather squally, changeable and unsettled, with intermittent .lam. Heavy showers at times in western districts. Some snow on the high country and hail on parts of the coast.
