PROVISION FOR WIDOW
OF CAPTAIN HINCHCLIFFE LORD INCHCAPE’S GENEROUS ACTION (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, August 1. Generous provision has been made by Lord Inchcape for the .wife and two children of Captain Hinchcliffe, the pilot who perished in tlie Atlantic flight attempt with Lord Inchcape's daughter, Miss Mackay. The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced last night that Lord Inchcape being desirous that the Elsie Mackay fund of £500,000 given by him and'Lady Inchcape and their family to the nation should not be the occasion or object of any complaint by other sufferers from the disaster in which his daughter lost her life, has placed at the disposal of the Chancellor a further sum of £lO.OOO from his own property to be applied for the purpose of meeting any complaint in such manner as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his absolute discretion ma? think tit. The Chancellor has handed the money to the Public Trustee for administration accordingly. The question of Mrs. llinehcliffe’s means was raised iu the House of Commons recently. As Captain Hinchcliffe was not insured, his widow, with two small children, the younger of whom is only six months old, was left in poor circumstances.
