Cape Town, August J. One European and nine natives are entombed by thousands of tons of rock, nearly 5000 feet down in the City Mine, the fall following the most extensive pressure burst which lias ever occurred on the Witwatersraud. One white miner, severely injured, was rescued, and subsequently died. Sixteen natives were brought up alive. The area involved is seven hundred feet square. Following a fall of rock the timbering yielded, and the lootwall burst with volcanic force. The rescuers are iu constant peril owing to loose rock in the vicinity.
