“DISGRACE TO CITY”
' STRUCTURES AT BALLENA BAY, CITY COUNCILLORS PROTEST Strictures upon certain structures which are. being erected on the foreshore at Ballena Bay were passed at the meeting of the City Council last night. - Councillor AV. 11. Bennett asked: “Has the council’s attention been called to the disreputable structures being erected on our waterfront? Heavy expenditure, had been made there, and the goings on at ■ Ballena Bay are a disgrace to our city, in my opinion.” The Mayor: My attention has been drawn to it. Thestructures are most disreputable, and should not be allowed. The council has no jurisdiction over the area on which these boatsheds are erected. I will ask the Town Clerk to get in communication with the general manager of the Harbour Board, and. see if some standard type of boatshed cannot be devised, to ..which all who erect sheds there will have to conform. One is being put up at the present time. Councillor Gaudiii: Is it not necessary to get a permit? The Mayor: The Harbour Board controls these.
