MUNICIPAL MILK SCHEME

Sir,—The brick thrown at the nearby farmers yesterday under the heading, “Is the municipal milk scheme in danger. was certainly a pretty hefty one, and might have hit someone had it not been misdirectedbut what puzzles m? most is that the nearby farmer has not been called upon to establish-an alibi with respect to the other bungle, namely, the Northland tunnel. I have no intention of replying to Mr. Bennett’s childish outburst appearing in to-day’s issue, . . . but let me say if Mr. Bennett has the courage and ability to prove one of the charges inferred by written innuendo appearing in your columns of July 30 and 31 respectively, my association will willingly donate ten pounds (£10) to any institution (other than the milk department) he likes to name; the issue to be decided before a Wellington audience between him (Mr. Bennett) and myself at a date convenient to himself.—I : ni. etc.. J. FURCHASE, Chairman Nearby Farmers. Newlands, July 31.
