WELLINGTON EXECUTIVE INTERPROVINCIAL MATCHES The executive committee of the Wellington Football Association met last night. There were present: Messrs. W. Duncan (chairman), W. B. Hicks, F. Mackay, J. Coleman, A. J. Nlninio, W. Auld. 11. Spotski R J. Weir, G. Goflin, B. Heath, and B. A. Alabin (secretary). Notification was received from the Director of Parks and Reserves to the effect that no play would be allowed upon the polo ground, Miramar, next Saturday, nor until further notice. Chatham Cup Mutch. Advice was received from the New Zealand Football Association that the North Island final would be between winners of the Hastings United v. I’etone match, at Palmerston North next Saturday, and winners of the Auckland final, would be played on August IS at Auckland. In the event of either club in the former match failing to travel, victory will go to the other side. Representative Match. On condition that the original arrangements were adhered to (that the Canterbury team should arrive on the morning of Saturday, August 11, and depart by the Saturday night boat) it was decided that a representative match could be held on that date. The Wellington team selected is as follows: Lucas; Steel, McGirr; Farquhar, Campbell, McCormack; Leslie; Campbell, Lack, Barton, Stark. • Secondary Schools’ Representatives. Amongst the correspondence was a suggestion from the Auckland Secondary Schools’ Association that a Wellington team should be sent to Auckland on August 18, the home players returning the visit on August 25 to play the curtainraiser to the Chatham Cup game ou that date. Mr. Mabin pointed out that this year a secondary schools competition had been inaugurated in Auckland and eighteen teams had participated, whereas secondary schools activities in AVellington were at a fairly low ebb. To a suggestion that the principal necessity was the encouragement of the boys’ divisions, Mr. Duncan asked whether, if it were a matter of encouragement. would it not be bettor to send a fourth grade team. The motion was carried that Auckland should be requested to send their eleven to AVellington, and that the committee should go into the question of sending representative teams away, with the view that the most deserving should be selected for that purpose. Billeting of players will be left in the hands of the Secondary Schools’ Association. General Business. Mr. 11. Spolski was deputed to act for the association on the executive of the Monster Joy Night Committee. A transfer was granted A. 11. Tarrant from Institute Old Boys to St. Andrew's Club, Palmerston North. Matters regarding (lie holding of matches on August 11 were left in the hands of the Fixtures Committee. Tree lucerne was suggested as a suitable lireakwind for tlie edges of Association Park, but the advocates of pinus insignis finally won the day. It was decided to write to the Forestry Department and interview the Director of Reserves on the subject. ALTERATION IN SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. In ttie second A division championship imitcli, Diamonds v.. Brooklyn, to take place nt 2.45 on Kilbirnie No. 2, under the control of Mr. F. K. Hunt, lias been altered to Diamonds v. Tutnnekni. SIXTH DIVISION REPRESENTATIVES.
