A BOMBSHELL
SOUTH AFRICAN LABOUR SPLIT NATIONALISTS TO CONTEST LABOUR SEATS (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. July 15, 5.5 p.m.) Cape Town, July 14.
The Labour split will not precipitate a Government crisis, according to the Hon. Tilman Roos, Minister of Justice, who states that the Prime Minister will merely acknowledge the letter announcing the expulsions of the Labour Ministers from the Labour Party, and the pact will continue until the general election.
Mr. Roos, however, drops a bombshell for the Labourites by declaring that the Nationalists will contest half-a-dozen seats in the Transvaal at present allotted to Labour. This may precipitate a Labour break-away from the pact.
