CROSSING FATALITY
I-TAWERA FARMER KILLED
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hawera, July 14. A level railway crossing close Io Ha■wera station was the scene of a fatal accident about 6 p.m. to-day. when the express train arriving from Wellington collided with a. horse-drawn wagon driven by George Appleyard, a farmer living on the outskirts of the town. Appleyard was severely injured ami died before reaching the hospital. One of the horses was slightly injured, but the other broke away when the engine struck the wagon, which was wrecked and piled up ou the cattle stop.
