Martinborough. July 11. The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held at Martin borough yesterday, Mr. Q- Donald occupying the chair. Riding balances were reported as ml low:—Greytown. debit £l4, 14s. 3d.; Featherston, debit £253 Os. 7d.; Otnraja. debit £541 10s.; Awhea. debit £357 bs. 50.; Pabaoa, debit £149 10s- 4d.; Martinborough, debit £371 65.: Western Lakecredit £683 ss. 3d.; Kahutara. credit. £3683 7s. 9d.; Tufanganui, credit. £551 3s. The Main Highways Board wrote staling: that it was unable-to declare, any further highways in the Featherston county. . , Mr. T. 0. Haycock waited on the council with tit complaint against the maintenance charges in connection with the county telephone service. He considered the charges should be revised, and suggested a flat-rate basis. The council decided that the Eastern Works Committee meet the Telephone Management Committee to discuss the matter, and report to next meeting. In the course of his report, the engineer stated thh'satisfactory arrangoments had been made regarding the Whangaimoana inland track, and thanks were due to Mr. McMaster for the manner in which he had met the council.. The proposed White Rock road had been inspected, and the estimated cost of the work would be £1676. The engineer was instructed to take the necessary steps to survey and legalise the proposed Whangaimoana road, also to prepare plans for the Ruakokapatuna bridge. It was resolved that the Eastern M orks Committee meet Mr. F.. McLeod regarding the river encroachment at the, big bend.
