PRESBYTERY MEETING
ASSEMBLY MODERATOR’S VISIT The monthly meeting of the Wellington Presbytery was held Inst night, the Moderator, Rev. R. S. .Watson, occupying the chair. Nominated by the Old Boys’ Association. Mr. C. 13. Scott, LL.M., was appointed by the Presbytery to the board of Scots and Queen Margaret Colleges Io fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dr. Gibb.
A motion was passed by the meeting placing on record its high appreciation of the work of Dr. Gibb, a founder of the colleges, who had resigned from the chairmanship of the Board of Governors of the Scots and Queen- Margaret Colleges. The motion particularly eulogised his work during (be financial slump. He had faced the difficulty witli great courage and ability, and in the conduct of the schools he had displayed statesmanship of tto mean order. The Rev. It. S. Watson reported for a committee which had considered the visit of the Assembly Moderator io Wellington. It was suggested that (he Moderator should be introduced Io both I lie Governor-General and the Mayor. The report gave an Ifinefary for' the Moderator while in Wellington. The committee was thanked for ils good work. The Rev. John Bissell. Assembly evangelist. who is nt present at St. Stephen s Church. Lower Hull, gave a short ltddress on his work. He said that in 1911., in Wales he had taken part in tin evangelistic movement. Before-the revival closed 10,000 converts had been added to the Church. In ten years’ time there were no fewer I linn 70.000 who were slill in the Church. Thirty thousand had been lost, through death, emigration and ’’black-sliding." The move ments were thus worth while. . A revival was a "quickening’’ within the Church. Interest was awakened and others were drawn in from outside by Illis enthusiasm. The speaker was thank, ed bv Ihe ITcsbvtcry for his address. M’r. .1. <). Duff, from Upper Hutt, was appointed an official compiler of statistics for the Presbytery.
