CIVIL SERVICE SALARIES
A CORRECTION. A report which appeared in yesterday’s “Dominion” credited the Minister of Education (Hon. R. A. Wright) with expressing the belief (in his address before the conference of the New Zealand Public Service Association) that “there was also some feeling in regard to the question of salaries, but they might look forward to some proposals to improve them in the course of the next session.” The Minister did not make the statements quoted. His only reference to salaries was a statement that there was more or less trouble between Capital and Labour throu hout the world, and he supposed many of the Civil servants thought their salaries were not j st as satisfactory as they might be. The Minister then proceeded to deal with other matters.
