(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Gisborne, May 12.

Service with von Tempsky against the rebellious Maoris was the outstanding feature of the early life of Ralph Todd Young, octogenarian, who died last evening. Young was born at Berwick-on-Tweed S 3 years ago, and came to New Zealand as a boy. He had an adventurous life in the volunteers under von Tempsky, which he joined at 16 years of a-e.
