BROOKLYN CLUB . Thirty-five turned out for the _ Brooklyn Harrier Club’s run on Saturday This is said to be a record attendance mnee 1021. Three packs were foimed, in Char e e of T. C. Sherwood. B. The trail, laid by A. morn son and Craddick, led across the main Happy Valley Road up Toyman Street and on to the hill at the back ot the Soldiers’ War Memorial, then taking in the direction of Fitchett’s farm. After running about three miles, the three pecks joined and returned home via t ’?®.H*4>py Valley Road. A run-in resulted in a win for E. Flint,.with D. Pederson second. The second man (in placings) vas disqualified owing to his cat “ a F ner. The members were afterwards, entertained at afternoon tea by Mr. and Mrs. Webb, the club captain extending thanks.

HUTT VALLEY CLUB

The Hutt Valley Harriers held their run for the Craig Rose Bowl from Hutt Park. ' The trail, which was set out by J. Stapelton and R. Ford, led through the Park out ou to the road, up Graceville Road, and over the Maori Bridge. It then went through the beach pens right out on to the east end of the Days Bay Road, and returned by the Waiwetu Road round the back of the racecourse by the new railway and home to the park, r ive teams faced the starter. Five members comprised a team, the first four to score the points. Passing the Maori bridge, It. Kemp was leading, followed by S. Andrews, E. Ollivcr, V. Smith and Johnston in that order. About halfway F. Saunders went to the front, followed by Andrews and Kemp. About a mile from home Andrews came up and took the lead to win comfortably by about 200 yards, his time being 18mm. 9 3-ssee. Kemp filled second place with ISmin. 34sec., and Sanders was third with ISmln. 56sec. When placings were worked out, R. Kemp's team proved the winners, with 32 points, the other scoring members of tho team being F. Sanders, J. Marshall and A. Gardner. The Ladies’ Harriers held a very successful run at Miss Pool's residence in Knight’s Road, Lower Hutt. They were afterwards entertained at afternoon tea.

SCOTTISH CLUB

Twenty runners faced the starter in the Scottish Club’s novice race at Lyall Bay on Saturday. A good attendance of members and friends witnessed .a very fine race. The trail started from Lyall Bay tram shed along the sand to the fishermen's huts. Here a break to the left brought the runners on to the golf course road for half a mile, and then along the concrete sewer, and finally bringing them into' Queen’s Drive for the straight home. J. H. Mansell, putting in a good finish, won from L. A. Sinclair by about ten yards, with H. Spoor three yards away third. Fastest time was returned by L. A. Sinclair, 15min. 5 3-Sscc, with W. 11. Crocker and J. O’Meara dead-heating in 17 min. 38sec. for second and R. Waterhouse, 17min. 41sec., third. The winner ran a very heady race and fully deserved his wlu. Sinclair has the makings of a champion, as his time for the three-mile course proved. Officials of the day were as follows: —Starter, Mrs. Bollins; timekeepers, Mr. G. Zander and Mr. W. Ballantyne; judges, Mr. W. J. Walter; handicapper, Mr. J. W. O’Neill; trail layers, Messrs. Trail brothers. Next week the run will be held from Karori Council Chambers at 2.30 p.m. OLYMPIC CLUB The run on Saturday was held at Wadestown. Thirty-seven runners turned out and followed the trail to Ngaio, where, after a few blind leads the paper was finally found and led to Wilton’s Bush and thence home. A hard-fought run-in resulted In a win for Chaudler, with Eggers second. These two' have made a nice collection of points already. Shanks a new member was third. Teller and Gudsell, of Wanganui, have joined the club,, also G. Atley, who ran so well on the track. 1\ Wilson has strained a chest muscle, but should soon be right again. The Philp Memorial Cup Race will be run next Saturday at Berhampore, and should be a hard race to win, with so many “dark horses” in the field. The club will meet at the Berhampore Baptist Church, corner Luxford and Rintoul Streets, and the race will start promptly.

WELLINGTON CLUB The Wellington Club held its novice race over a course of 2J miles from the residence of Mr. W. Clarke, of Tauhlnu Road, Miramar, on Saturday afternoon. There was a large number of friends and supporters present, including the patron, Mr. W. H. Bennett. The fifteen competitos were started on their journey by the club president (Mr. H. J. Pollock), other officials being Messrs. W. 11. Bennett, W. Press, W. Donaldson, W. H. Pollock, and C. Edwards. After. running a sterling race off IJsec.. A. Hivoh won by a few yards from B. Frazer (DOsec.), with H. R. Allen (65sec.) a close third. Fastest time honours went to A. Hinon, who beat N. White (scr.) in the excellent time of 13 min. 's3scc. Next week’s run will be from the Kelburn car terminus.
