An apneal is being made by the Institute of Horticulture for assistance from the Auckland local bodies to help with the purchase of an area of native bush near Waimauku, where there are some splendid specimens of kauri trees (reports the Auckland “Star”). The bush is one of the few pieces of its kind within fairly handy range of the city, and it is feared that if the opportunity of securing it is lost the timber may be removed. So far there has been an indifferent response, and several of the local bodies have declined to contribute, on the ground that they have no funds for th;: purpose.
