OFFENDERS PUNISHED.

Christchurch, May 11. Prisoners were sentenced at the Bupreme Court to-day. James M right Fvnes (58), formerly cafe proprietor, on two charges ot breaches of the Bankruptcy Act, was sentenced to six months imprisonment. Tlie police report said that the prisoner had “sponged on women and defrauded them, AU man for housebreaking and theft, was sentenced to reformative detention for tjvo years. James William halklugham, for receiving property dishonestly obtained (two charges), was sentenced to time years’ hard labour, and Alfred .Norman O'Meara, for theft from the per* on - s 1 months' imprisonment. , lr , Blacklock, for theft, was admitted to pr > bation foi three .years, and make restitution.
