Foxton, May 11.

A special meeting of the Foxton Beautifying Society was held on Tuesday evening, - presided over by the president (Mr. M. E. Perreau). The resignation of tlie secretary (Mr. R. McMurray), who is leaving the district, was accepted with regret. The appointment of another secretary was held over until next meeting. It was decided to allow the pupils of the High School to use Ihakara Garden during recess provided they refrained from damaging the garden plots, etc. A plan of the work to be carried out by the Education Department in levelling the school section adjoining Ihakara Garden was submitted to, and approved by, the board. Mr. V. Stewart was elected a new member. On Wednesday afternoon the annual installation ceremony in connection with the local Masonic Lodge was held and in the evening a dance conducted by the Masons in the talL
