GENERALLY UNSETTLED
“As a result of a slight rise of pressure in the north and* a corresponding fall in the south, a reduction in gradient has taken place, and there has been an accompanying decrease in the force of the southerly winds over the North Island,” stated the Meteorological Office yesterday. “At 9 a.nj. to-day wind directions wery more variable, with a tendency for northerlies as far ns Cook Strnit. Further scattered rain lias been experienced in districts with an easterly aspect south of the East Cane, and during Wednesday ni"ht some light falls were recorded in Westland, but most parts of the west districts and Hie far north have had fair weather “There is more evidence of a moderate depression situated between New Zealand and Tasmania, and the indications n-*e for variable winds north of. New Plymouth and Nanier, bm chieflv between south-west .and north-west' elsewhere northerly winds, light to moderate 6--« i. bn* ’n*er bnehin" to southerly. The weather is li'-elv to become cloudy and unsettled Dirlv generally with r-i-n developing. but onlv light cr-nHcred north of New Plymouth and Nanier.”
