AMERICAN COLONIES
REVOLT FROM ENGLAND PROFESSOR’S OPINION AS TO JUSTIFICATION Washington, February 17. Recriminations marked the session of the House of Representatives’ Naval Committee as a “popular lobby” for continued arguments for and against the proposed naval programme. « Mrs. W. S. Walker, Vice-President General of the Daughters of the American Revolution, demanded the removal of Dr. W. I. Hull from the history professorship of Swarthmore College on account of his refusal to tell the committee whether he thought that the American colonies were justified in their revolt from England. Dr. Hull at first refused to answer before the committee, but said later: “Many believe that the conditions would have been better without a revolution.”
