As the result of a tour of the Continent, an Aucklander has returned with the impression that the solution of the transport problem as far as the tramways are concerned is in a mathematical adjustment of the faro schedule to give a penny about double its value (states the “Star”). Tn Bremen the maximum tram fare was 4d. for a ride of 30 miles. The tramways wore paying well under municipal control, and the tickets were priced at rates that left no room for bus competition.
