MEETING OF CENTRE. A meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held on Tuesday night. A large number of delegates were present, Mr. P. N. Rundle occupying the chair. The Carterton Club’s application for a carnival to be held on February 11 was approved, subject to slight alterations, iimilarly the Worsen Bay Club’s list of officials and programme for their annual carnival, to be held on January 23, at Worsen Bay. was approved. A motion that the time of 59 2-sees. for the 100 yards registered by W. Cameron at the Hutt baths on January 7 be applied for as a fresh water New Zealand record was carried. With regard to the Nordon Cup contest, it was decided that the Canterbury Centre's suggested date of Tuesday, January 17, was too early to permit of the Wellington team being in Christchurch, and that the contest be held in abeyance, with Easter time being kept in view a« a suitable date. ■ It was decided that Mr. J. McNie te appointed manager for the championship team. With regard to remits for the annual conference it was resolved to support- the Canterbury centre in their remit that the New Zealand championships be held late in February. The chairman announced that this would probably be his last meeting v.?th the centre, as he was to take over erntroi of his firm's Dunedin branch wit rm the next week or two. He expressed his regret at having to leave Wellington, and wished the centre the best of luck. Mr, P. Coira said that 3ft-. Bundies departure would be a severe blow to the sport of swimming in Wellington. 31r.
