MINE EXPLOSION
TWENTY-ONE MEN KILLED . THIRTY ENTOMBED New York, January 9. • A message from West Frankfort, Illinois, states that 21 are dead as the result of an explosion in the Industrial Coal Company’s mine. Possibly there are other victims. A later message from West Frankfort, Illinois, states that approximately thirty, miners have been trapped by the explosion. Officials at present are unable to estimate the number of casualties. Rescue crews are attempting to reach the trapped men.
