CHILD DROWNED
WANDERS FROM MASTERTON HOME Mastertoll, January 10. The death of an infant by drowning occurred at Mastertoil to-day, the child being Frank Basil Ryder, aged 1 year and 9 months, son of Mr John Ryder, of Smith Street, Mastertpu. The child was in charge of its mother, who was engaged in duties at the residence, 32 Essex Street; of Mr. J. S. Watson. Left alone, it wandered, and when it was found to be' missing a search was made in which neighbours joined The child was eventually found in a stream that runs along the property. It was lying face downwards in the 'water, and life was extinct. Captain I‘ugden, who found the child, applied artificial respiration, but to no effect. An inquest will be held.
