SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH NEW SOUTH WALES BEATS SOUTH AUSTRALIA (Rec. January 10, 9.5 p.m.) Sydney, January. 10. In the Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and New South Wales, South Australia in the second innings made 239 (Lee 30, Hack 22, AlcKay 40). Nicholls took four wickets for 84, Alailey three for 113, and Jordan two for 33. New South Wales won bv 118 runs. The 'weather was fine, and the wicket good to-day, but, with the exception of a stonewalling stand by AlcKay and Hack, the batsmen failed to offer serious resistance to the bowlers. [South Australia’s first innings score was 248, and the -New South Wales scores were 291 and 368.] M.C.C. TEAM IN SOUTH AFRICA EASTERN PROVINCES DEFEATED. Cape Town, January 9. The match at' Port Elizabeth between Eastern Provinces and AI.C.C. resulted in a win fon AI.C.C. by ten wickets. Eastern Provinces made 136 (Staples taking seven wickets for 38) and 98 (Peebles tour for 24, Staples three for 21). AI.C.C. made .8 (Ochse five for 32) and 187 for no wickets (Sutcliffe, not out, 79, Wyatt, no tout, 101).— A.P.A. wnd “Sun." JUNIOR FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
