The minimum charge has been eliminated from the conditions of supply. The Mayor ami Councillors Jamieson and Greig were deputed to meet delegates to be elected from the Hutt County Council in connection with the maintenance of the boundary road between the borough and the county. The foreman reported that over the holidays-several windows of the Wallace-, ville blockhouse had been broken, and that one of the pictures had been damaged. A block, of wood which was in the room was missing. The Mayor suggested that acticn should be taken, and suggested that notices should be put up urging citizens to protect tl.dr own property. It was explained that it was most likely the work of irresponsible boys, and that probably a notice would not do much good, to which Councillor Guthrie remarked: “No, but the birch would.” It was stated that the blockhouse is fast growing in popularity, scarcely a day passing without people visiting it. On the strength of this, it was resolved to instruct the foreman to have some seats placed in the grounds, and to haie water laid on for the benefit of picnickers.
