GREAT DESTINY

DAWNING FOR THE BRITISH EMPIRE COMPLETE CO-OPERATION ESSENTIAL ADDRESS BY MR. AMERY BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS AoSOCIAUOM. Copyright. (Rec. January 8, 11.5 p.m.) Vancouver, January 7. “The British Empire is the youngest thing in the world, and the most potent, and it stands at the dawn of a great new destiny,” declared Mr. Amery, addressing the Canadian Club at Victoria to-day. He said that while the last Imperial Conference formally accorded all nations in tlie Empire a place of absolute equality, one with another, tlie future greatness of the Empire would not lie along the lines of separate development. Mr. Amery declared that a future much greater than the past must be built up on the lines of complete- cooperation, both in business and in spirit. “We shall- develop our methods of co-operation as we go along,” he predicted. He marvelled at Canada's economic growth aud declared that the prosperity of the United States was due to the policy of economic unity. If the same spirit of co-operation was evinced in the Empire there -was no reason why it could not “match, and more than match, that of our great neighbour.”
