VICTORY FOR PURDY
HEAVILY PUNISHES LITTLE COWBOY
Sydney, January 7. At the Sydney Stadium, Charlie Purdy, Ost. 91b., knocked out Little Cowboy, 9st. 71b., in the fifth round. Purdy led from the commencement and severely punished the Filipino, flooring him in the second round. For the remaining rounds the New Zealander, placing both hands to the face, administered heavy punishment, finally'knocking out his opponent with a heavy right cross to the jaw. Little Cowboy was out boxed and outfought from the commencement. LOUGHRAN OUTPOINTS LOMSKI (Rec. January 8, 5.5 p.m.) New York, January G. Tommy Loughran retained the light heavy-weight title when lie outpointed Leo Lomski in fifteen rounds. DOCTOR TO ATTEND FIGHTS London, January 6. It was announced at the Premierland Stadium that a doctor will in future sit alongside the referee at boxing matches and nave power to stop fights if a boxer is being unduly punished.
