OIL FOR FLOORS INSTEAD OF SCRUBBING. ■ Fewer charwomen will be neeeded, and scrubbing brushes and buckets will be abolished in consequence of a new method of cleaning the floors of the London County Council schools. Dust-allaying oil wfill be used, and it is hoped to stive £12,006 annually by this means. Successful experiments have been made in 100 schools. An official of the council, explaining the method, said: “The oil is applied thinly to the Horn with a broom, and is allowed to dry. Ji is brushed with a special hard brush which taken up the dirt in the form ol small pellets. Fresh oil is put down during each school holiday for the first year, and after that when necessary. Tests have also shown that the oil reduces the number of germs in the air-
