BAD YEAR
FOR NEW SOUTH WALES MINERS Sydney, January 6. The last year was one of the worst experienced by the miners on the South Maitland coalfields for many vears. Pelawmain and Aberdare were the onlv collieries which worked more than 200. days, while the records for previous vears show that over, twelve collieries were on or about the 200-day mark. Trouble over deputies, and floods, were responsible for over three weeks of lost time, but sectional stoppages and slackness of trade accounted for manv lost davs. Out of thirteen pays up toythe end of the year some miners drew less than two days per fortnight.
